Questions & Answers

Files:

  1. How do I open zip attachment?
The exact procedure varies depending on your email handling software (email client). Firstly you need to open the message containing attachment, locate the attachment and save it to your hard drive. Double click on the file previously saved and default decompressing handler will unzip it for you to place specified by you as prompted during unzipping procedure. Not all computers have decompressing software installed, your system will usually ask you to select program when you double click on zip file. If that happens you will need to download application that can handle zip files. We at Reasonart like WinRAR but there are many other products you may download for example from download.com Follow installation procedure and you will be able to decompress any zip file simply double clicking them.
  2. How do I send file in email?
    • Zipping files:
Image files which we are frequently dealing with are rather large files, hence before sending your files it is good to check with your email hosting company what is your attachment limit. To reduce the size use your compressing software and create zip file. If even after compression your files take too much space distribute them into several zip files and send in separate messages.
    • Scanning files:
If you choose to send your original drawings in email, you will need to scan them. The optimal formats are TIF, TIFF, PDF, but we will accept any other image or document format. If you have large drawing but no large format scanner you can cut your drawing into pieces little smaller than your scanner format which will ensure that entire area will be scanned, write on them drawing number and sequence number and scan it. When you finish scanning whole drawing put it into one folder, zip and send to us.

Printing:

  1. How do I print PDF in scale?
Open your PDF file and select 100% from drop down menu on the toolbar to print in original scale, select 50% to print in half the scale or 200% to print in double scale etc. Scroll to the part of drawing you want to print. Select Print from File Menu. In the dialog box Range Area select Current View, under Page Handling set Page Scaling to None. Print your drawing.

AutoCAD:

  1. How do I view model space with filtered layers (as they appear on paper space)?
In model space type /lman and from list select name of the layout you want to view.
  2. How do I know which file is latest? (Our naming convention explained.)
In absence of your own naming schema we use our naming system. During the project development we may send you multiple files for verifications. For your convenience we prefix your drawing file name with current date in format (yyyy/mm/dd), also, we append a letter to distinguish between file revisions sent during same day, letters are assigned in alphabetical order with ‘a’ indicating oldest file and ‘z’ being the newest.
  3. What will you deliver at the end of project cycle?
At the completion of work we will send you a ZIP file with complete set of project files. Below is a schema explaining the standard content of Project Folder:

    • DWG file – the drawing file
    • xref (folder) – optional
      • external references -files linked to main drawing
    • settings (folder)
      • CTB or STB (pen setting files)
    • publish (folder)
      • PDF folder with file/s
      • PLT folder with file/s
